Požega historical core

Kužni pil is the central monument on the Požega baroque square that has a statue of the Holy Trinity on its top, and it was erected in remembrance of 798 citizens of Požega who died due to the plague epidemics.

In front of St. Theresa’s cathedral, there is a statue of friar Luka Ibrišimović (1626-1698) who was born and buried in Požega (in the Holy Spirit crypt).

The visitors will probably want to know what is on the hill behind the Gymnasium building. Since the Middle Ages, a fort has been on this place which was mentioned in the documents on January 11, 1227.
