Natura 2000

Natura 2000 is an ecological network consisting of areas that are important for the preservation of endangered species and habitat types of the European Union. Its goal is to maintain or re-establish a favorable state of endangered and rare species, and natural and semi-natural habitats. Natura 2000 is based on EU directives. There are 19 Natura 2000 areas in the territory of Požega-Slavonia County which include water habitats, forests, dry and mesic grasslands, and caves.
