Protected natural heritage
Every town has its own central square, a paved area where citizens meet. However, such an example could not be found in Lipik since it has always been special, and the central area is the park.
Lake Sovsko is a unique natural lake on Mount Dilj. It is located 430 meters above sea level, and it covers an area of around 3600 m2.
Trenkovo park was created in the second half of the 18th century when the estate was owned by baron Peterffy and his wife Karolina. The park constitutes an integral whole with the castle that was built in the late baroque-neoclassicist style.
Kutjevo park was planted as part of the castle and the parish church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Kutjevo. A Cistercian abbey had been established there in 1232. However, it stopped its activity when the Ottomans arrived in Kutjevo.
Natura 2000 is an ecological network consisting of areas that are important for the preservation of endangered species and habitat types of the European Union. Its goal is to maintain or re-establish a favorable state of endangered and rare species, and natural and semi-natural habitats.
In 2006, two new caves were discovered on the territory of Pakračka Gora: Rastik, 140 long, and Trbušnjak, at least 200 meters long, and the first measuring has already shown that Trbušnjak has surpassed the present record holder, Uviraljka, in length, and became the longest cave in Slavonia.
