Kursalon

Kursalon is the most remarkable building in Lipik. It was built at the end of the 19th century and since then it has been the symbol of Lipik and the most photographed motive of our town. Kursalon used to be synonymous with fun, entertainment, and culture. It was purposefully built for the guests of the Lipik spa and it marked a new rise in Lipik tourism and the most beautiful period of that town.

The reason for building Kursalon and supporting facilities was because the Spa was increasingly visited and Lipik’s entertainment offer was lacking. Lipik had a rise in tourism, and more and more people were introduced to the benefits of geothermal water which also increased the interest in Lipik. Lipik was connected by a railway with Hungary and Austria, and it became a modern resort. To satisfy the demands of foreign guests and expand the offer of health tourism, Kursalon and Wandelban were built, and the park was created.

At that time, Kursalon was one of the most beautiful buildings in Slavonia. The building had a lot of halls with various offers, a coffee house, a spa hall, a big foyer, and a hospitality part.

Kursalon had its beautiful moments during its 100 years of work. Today as well it is is being well taken care of, and smaller cultural events are organized in the remains of Kursalon. It is worth it to visit Kursalon and feel the spirit of the past firsthand, through the host’s stories.
