Lake Sovsko

Lake Sovsko is a unique natural lake on Mount Dilj. It is located 430 meters above sea level, and it covers an area of around 3600 m2. It has its own water source which is a consequence of geomorphological activities in the past. Around the lake, there are woodland communities of sessile oak and common hornbeam, a mountain beech forest, and an oak downy and black ash forest. The lake is a refuge for many animal species, fish, amphibians, reptiles, and waterbirds. Due to its value, the lake was declared a distinct landscape in 1989, and it became part of the Natura ecological network in 2000.
