Modernly equipped libraries hide an impressive book fund since the tradition of librarianship in the area of Golden Slavonia started a long time ago, in 1845. Despite the wonders of modern technology, many will say even today that nothing is as relaxing as an interesting book or a theatrical play. Even though the name of the first played theatrical piece in Požega remains unknown, it was noted that on August 27, 1715, meaning more than three centuries ago, a stage was set under a tent in the yard of the Jesuit monastery.
Diocesan Museum
The Diocesan Museum of the Požega Diocese was founded in 1999 by Msgr. Antun Škvorčević, and it was solemnly inaugurated on October 1st, 2016 on the 20th anniversary of the founding of the Diocese of Požega.
Požega Municipal Museum
Požega Municipal Museum was founded on December 6, 1924, courtesy of Julije Kempf, a distinguished citizen of Požega. This is the second oldest museum in Slavonia (after the Museum of Slavonia Osijek).
Pakrac Municipal Museum
Pakrac Municipal Museum operates in the building Mali Dvor – Janković, part of the Janković manor from the 18th century, the center of the former large estate.
Museum of Military and War History
The Museum of Military and War History is the only museum of that kind in Croatia where in one place different artifacts related to the Croatian, and partly to the world military and war history, can be seen.
Požega City Library
Požega City Library is the central national and parent library of Požega-Slavonia County. With its programs and activity, the newly renovated Library is becoming a cultural and informational center of the city.
Croatian Library and Reading Room Pleternica
The library is a modern public cultural institution in which citizens of Pleternica keep and will continue keeping culture, written word, and knowledge, and the pledge to that is human resources without which there is no progress, regardless of the entire technology.
National Library and Reading Room Kutjevo
The fund contains books from different areas of natural, social, and applied sciences, fiction, art, children’s books, books for teens, and books and picture books for the youngest. We have a regional collection and the Homeland war collection.
City Library and Reading Room Lipik
City Library Lipik was opened in March 2007 and it works at the premises of Multicultural center Lipik.
Požega City Theater
The first theater performance in Požega was staged in 1715, and just 3 years later, the first performance in Croatian was played.
